Giocare was a bit green yet full of run in the final panel to finish 3rd beaten two lengths in a maiden special weight race for three-year-olds, going 1 mile 40 yards on the main track at Tampa Bay Downs Saturday afternoon VIDEO
Breaking from post position 3 of 8, Giocare and Daniel Centeno were away cleanly and settled between horses as Texas Swing (2) led the way with Don Bourbon (5) to his outside.
Tightly packed around the clubhouse turn through an opening quarter mile in :23.66, Giocare took a fair amount of kickback and gave up some ground racing down the backstretch. Regrouping and finding a good stride, Centeno went to work around the far turn, guiding Giocare outside horses.
At the top of stretch, Centeno goes left-handed with the crop and Giocare shifts out a couple paths losing some momentum. Centeno quickly corrects course and makes one final bid to finish well through the wire nearly earning place. Texas Swing went gate-to-wire in a final time 1:39.57 CHART
