Twice Horse of the Year, Curlin has rapidly risen to the very top of the North American sires ranks. Here Let's Go offer a Curlin colt who is out of a young Storm Cat half-sister to an Eclipse Award winning Champion Three-Year-Old.
Following the footsteps of his sire, two-time Leading Sire Smart Strike, Curlin is already responsible for nearly 50 stakes winners including Champions Good Magic and Stellar Wind; the Preakness Stakes (G1) hero, Exaggerator; Palace Malice, whose triumphs included the Belmont Stakes (G1) and Metropolitan Handicap (G1); Keen Ice, who became the only horse to defeat American Pharoah in grade one competition when taking the Travers Stakes (G1); three-time grade one winner Curalina; Connect, successful in the Cigar Mile (G1); and Off The Tracks, successful in the Mother Goose Stakes (G1).
Let's Go's Curlin colt is out of a Stormin Maggy, a two-year-old winning and stakes placed daughter of the legendary Storm Cat, who is dam of Churchill Downs allowance winner United Stand with her first starter in the U.S. Stormin Maggy is half-sister to Afleet Alex, Champion Three-Year-Old colt, winner of the Belmont Stakes (G1), Preakness Stakes (G1) and Hopeful Stakes (G1), and now a successful sire. She is also half-sister to the stakes winning and multiple graded winning Unforgettable Max, and to the dams of the Pilgrim Stakes (G3) victor Seabhac; the stakes winning and grade once placed Topic; and to Cash's Girl, a four-time stakes winner who is herself dam of the Monmouth Cup (G3) scorer, Name Changer. Note that Seabhac is out of a Curlin mare, and is by a Storm Cat line stallion, the reverse of this mating. Looking a generation back, the class continues as Storming Maggy is not only by Storm Cat, but is also out of Maggy Hawk, a two-year-old winning daughter of the Demoiselle Stakes (G1) heroine, Qualique.
The cross of Curlin with Storm Cat mares - on which this colt is bred - has proved to be a very productive one with four stakes winners, headed by the grade two winning Diversy Harbor, as well as Ride on Curlin, first past-the-post in the Frontrunner Stakes (G1), and second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1), and the Preakness Stakes (G1). There are also another four stakes winners by Curlin out of mares by sons of Storm Cat, including the graded stakes winners King Zachary and Ocean Knight.
