Verrazano is entered in the 8th race at Santa Anita Park on Friday, November 1st. It is the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) for three-year-olds and up, going 1 mile. He has drawn post position 10 of 12 and will be ridden by John Velazquez. The purse is $1,000,000, and approximate post time is 3:05.
Verrazano will look to rebound after a dull performance as the post time favorite in the Travers S. (G1) at Saratoga. He's been training quite well over the past six weeks over the training track at Belmont Park with a series of good breezes going 5/8 of a mile and his most recent 1/2 mile maintenance workout in :49 4/5 on 10/26.
This year's Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) consists of six grade one winners and looks to be very competitive. Racing over the Santa Anita strip will surely produce a hot pace whilestalkers will try and stay close in behind the front runner. We hope with a good trip, Verraznao will be close around the second trurn and in position for a strong finish to the wire!
