Soldado cruised to victory under Luis Saez to score an impressive 2 1/2 length win, going 6 furlongs on the main track at Gulfstream Park yesterday afternoon VIDEO
Breaking from the inside post, Soldado was away cleanly from the gate and hustled early to secure the rail on the front end while long shot Goldenlion (8) engaged to his outside. Through an opening quarter mile in :22.76, Soldado looked be traveling very well taking the lead as they approached the far turn.
Confidently handled around the turn with a slim lead, Saez gave Soldado his cue as Travelling Midas (3) was putting in his best run to their outside. Set down for the stretch drive, Saez shook the reigns and edged away at the eighth pole full of run through the lane. Soldado crossed the finish line in a final time 1:09.08 CHART
This was a big effort from Soldado coming off a ten month layoff. He earned a career best 97 BSF and 98 BRIS.
