Daredevil Cruises to Victory in Champagne
Monday, October 6, 2014 | RSS Feeds

In only 21 days, Daredevil has gone from a debut maiden to Grade 1 Winner, as he splashed home in-hand taking the $500,000 Champagne S. (G1) at Belmont on Saturday (VIDEO).

Registering such an impressive victory, Daredevil's quick rise to stardom has only been bolstered by Timeform's latest global rankings where he has earned top-billing as the highest rated Two-Year-Old in the World!

Breaking alertly from the outside post position, Daredevil (6) was quick into gear, tracking the early pace-setter Holy Boss (4). As the pair cruised through an opening 1/4 mile in :22 4/5, with El Kabeir (1) and I Spent It (3) hurried along inside, Javier deftly guided our son of More Than Ready a length off the pace while traveling five wide down the backstretch.

After 1/2 mile in :46 2/5, Castellano looked to challenge the leader, Holy Boss (4), midway around the far turn. Still in-hand, Daredevil took the lead with ease at the 1/4 pole, while Upstart (2) was making his bid. Opening up by three lengths in the stretch with Castellano quiet in the irons, Daredevil looked much the best as Upstart (2), who ran a valiant race to be second, was no match. Daredevil crossed the wire in 1:36 3/5, an impressive final time considering he was geared down late and how slow the track was playing that day (CHART).

It was a banner performance by Daredevil in the 143rd running of the Champagne S. (G1). We are extremely proud of our colt and hope there is more to come from our superhero.
