Daredevil Impressive in Debut
Sunday, September 14, 2014 | RSS Feeds

Although his much anticipated debut came later in the season, Daredevil certainly validated the buzz with a front-running romp over a muddy (sealed) track at Belmont yesterday afternoon. The official margin of victory was 6 1/4 lengths, but our chestnut son by More Than Ready was on cruise control throughout, registering quite an impressive victory over several highly touted first time starters - Race Replay.

Away a tad slow from the gate, jockey John Velazquez asked Daredevil for some early run and in a flash made the lead with ease. Pressed from the outside by On Tenterhooks (9) through an opening 1/4 mile in :22.07, Daredevil cleared that rival while under a firm hold.

After 1/2 mile in :44.94, Daredevil was in complete control, pulling away in the stretch under subtle encouragement by Velazquez and finishing well to the wire in a final time of 1:09.87 - Chart.

This was an exceptional debut for Daredevil in less than ideal conditions, and we're thrilled to have him bear the Let's Go colors.

Daredevil received an 85 Beyer speed figure and 92 BRIS rating.
