Divine Oath is entered in the 1st race at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, January 18th. It is a maiden special weight race for 3-year-old colts, going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf. He has drawn post position 7 of 13 and will be ridden by Javier Castellano . The purse is $47,000 and approximate post time is 12:40.
A classy 3-year-old colt by Broken Vow, Divine Oath will make his debut going two turns on the turf. With top flight connections and outstanding pedigrees to contend with, he will surely be tested in his first career start.
Since arriving in South Florida last November, Divine Oath has been steadily improving. As a late-developing 2-year-old, he more recently showed some promise in the mornings while training at Palm Meadows Training Center in Boynton Beach, FL.
His previous two works going 5/8 of a mile on the turf were solid moves, and he most recently clocked a maintenance breeze going 1/2 mile on the dirt in :49 1/5 to prepare for this test. He looks to be coming into the race in good order, and we hope he puts in a solid run.
