Let’s Go has developed an exceptional eye for the produce of More Than Ready, including campaigning two of his best North American-based sons, Verrazano and Daredevil. This colt is bred very similarly to Daredevil, brilliant winner of the Champagne Stakes (gr. I) while running the fastest Beyer Speedfigure by a two-year-old of his crop, and now an exciting young sire prospect standing at WinStar Farm.
The dam, Much Rejoicing, was an extremely talented performer, capturing the Glia Stakes at Belmont Park while running six furlongs in 1:08.44. She also took a Keeneland allowance test by 3½ lengths over grade two scorer Buckleupbuttercup and stakes winner Dynazaper, and earned places in the Serena’s Cat Stakes and Caress Stakes. Much Rejoicing is a daughter of Distorted Humor, a Champion Sire who is now a sensational broodmare sire his daughters producing such as Arrogate, Practical Joke, New Money Honey and Constitution.
Much Rejoicing is half-sister to the stakes placed Shine Softly, and to the dam of multiple stakes winning and graded stakes placed Spring to the Sky, to graded placed Ennobled Friend, and to stakes placed Mr Know It All. Much Rejoicing’s dam, Soaring Softly was an exceptional racemare who captured seven of her last eight starts, earning a title as Champion Turf Female with victories in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. I), Flower Bowl Handicap (gr. I), New York Handicap (gr. II) and Sheepshead Bay Handicap (gr. II).
Soaring Softly is three-quarters sister to Plenty of Grace, heroine of the Yellow Ribbon Stakes (gr. I), and granddam of the brilliant sprinter, Diabolical, and of group winner What A Name. Soaring Softly is also half-sister to the dams of seven other stakes winners, including graded scorers Duality, Bound By Honor, Taqarub and Recepta, and granddam of grade one winner Super Cool. Soaring Softly’s dam, Wings of Grace, won the Boiling Springs Handicap (gr. III), and is out of the Darby Dan Farm foundation mare, Far Beyond, the ancestress of no less than 55 stakes winners, including in addition to those previously mentioned, grade one winners Molly Morgan – whose dam is also by Distorted Humor, and so closely related to the dam of this colt – Noble’s Promise and Military, as well Canadian Champion Two-Year-Old Filly Wavering Girl. One generation further back, we come to Soaring, ancestress of Champions Devil’s Bag and Glorious Song, and their brother, the outstanding sire, Saint Ballado, this trio all being by More Than Ready’s grandsire, Halo.
Looking at the cross that produced this colt, we can note that More Than Ready has already sired group two winner Boynton out of a mare by Distorted Humor; Daredevil out of a mare by Distorted Humor’s sire, Forty Niner; and stakes winners More Than A Party and Marianne Rose out of mares by other sons of Forty Niner. He’s also sired grade two winner Zindaya out of a mare by Kris S. the sire of the dam of this mare.
