Wooderson retuned a game winner on Friday, as he ran down a well-meant Bob Baffert speedster to pull away for a two-length victory over the Beard Course at Keeneland VIDEO
Away for the better part of seven months, Wooderson showed no rust breaking alertly under John Velazquez from the inside post and securing an ideal stalking trip outside Explorer (5). Racing 3-4 wide down the backstretch, Wooderson chased Explorer through an opening quarter mile in :22.91 about two lengths back.
Traveling very well while racing around the far turn, Velazquez prompted Wooderoon and ranged up alongside Explorer as the pair hit the quarter pole. Coming out of the turn, Wooderson straightened out and launched his bid. After an exciting stretch duel, Velazquez and Wooderson pulled away from Explorer late and finished full of run in a final time of 1:26.26 CHART
