Verrazano is entered in the 8th race at Aqueduct on Saturday, November 30th. It is the Cigar Mile H. (G1) for three-year-olds and up, going 1 mile on the dirt. He has drawn post position 10 of 11 and will be ridden by Javier Castellano. The purse is $500,000, and approximate post time is 3:20.
Since a troubled fourth place finish in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) earlier this month, Verrazano returned to New York none the worse for wear turning in a pair of solid half mile drills including his most recent maintenance work in :48 4/5.
With John Velazquez sidelined, Castellano gets the call this Saturday in the highly contested Cigar Mile H. (G1). Verrazano will have speedster Private Zone breaking from the outiside post and most likely looking to make the lead. The race looks very competitive and should be a true test for all chellengers.
With no less than six Grade 1 winners in the starting gate, this year's edition of the Cigar Mile H. (G1) looks to be as tough as any in recent memory. We're thrilled to have Verrazano back in New York for another shot at one of our sport's most prestigious races.
