Made You Look drew off in the final panels in his sophomore debut to win the Dania Beach S. (G3), going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Gulftsream yesterday afternoon VIDEO.
Looking a bit fresh in the post parade, Made You Look entered the starting gate without incident. Breaking from post position 7 of 8 with jockey Javier Castellano in the irons, Made You Look was away in good order with a short run-up to the first turn.
Castellano deftly guided Made You Look towards the rail and between horses saving ground just a few lengths off the pace as the field raced around the clubhouse turn. Through an opening 1/4 mile in :23.83, Made You Look raced comfortably down the backstretch with Castellano silent.
As they approached the far turn after a half mile in :48.13, Castellano cautiously gave way to Clyde's Image (8) to his outside and patiently waited for that one to clear before angling out four wide. With a couple taps on the shoulder, Made You Look ranged up nicely as they hit the top of the stretch.
Set down for the stretch drive, Made You Look responded with an eye-catching turn-of-foot down the middle of the course while under a strong hand ride. Castellano merely waived the whip on either side late while capping off a text book turf ride.
Made You Look crossed the wire 2 1/2 lengths best over Clyde's Image and it was another half length back to Shiraz (2) in third. The final time was 1:29.98 CHART.
