Divine Oath Entered in Lexington
Thursday, April 17, 2014 | RSS Feeds

Divine Oath is entered in the 9th race at Keeneland on Saturday, April 19th. It is the Lexington S. (G3) for three-year-olds, going 1 1/16 miles on the all weather track. He has drawn post position 6 of 11 and will be ridden by Javier Castellano. The purse is $420,000, and approximate post time is 5:13.

A lightly raced three-year-old colt by Broken Vow, Divine Oath is undefeated in two starts, going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Gulfstream Park. Over the past six weeks, Divine Oath has been training steadily at Palm Meadows Training Center in Boynton Beach, FL, while most recently breezing 1/2 mile in :48 3/5 over the Keeneland all weather track last Sunday.

Originally pointing for the Blue Grass S. (G1) at Keeneland last weekend, Divine Oath did not qualify as the race oversubscribed. Having known the race would likley draw a full field, we knew there was a good chance Divine Oath would be left outside looking in, so-to-speak, and the Lexington S. (G3) was an obvious fallback race.

Fortunately, the Lexington S. (G3) did not oversubscribe, and Divine Oath drew a good post position with Catsellano in the irons. The all weather track is somewhat of an unknown, as it seems to hold up turf form at times and can play inconsistantly day-to-day.

We're excited to see Divine Oath take on a solid field of contenders in his stakes debut and look forward to another winning performance.
