Dissident finished 3rd beaten 3 1/4 lengths in yesterday's maiden special weight race for two-year-olds, going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Saratoga VIDEO.
Breaking from post position 9 of 10, Dissident and jockey Javier Castellano were squeezed early and forced to steady as they approached the clubhouse turn. Settling for a spot towards the back of the field early, Dissident improved position down the backstretch 4 1/2 lengths off the lead after 1/2 mile in :48.08.
Racing through the far turn, Castellano prompted Dissident for run towards the rail passing a couple tiring rivals. As they hit the top of the stretch, Castellano set Dissident down for a drive in the three path. Pacesetter Its All Relevant (2) would relinquish the lead late to eventual winner Eldmilaad (4) while Dissident put in a fine run for show some seven lengths ahead of the field CHART.
