Conquer the World finished 3rd beaten 1 1/2 lengths in his long-awaited debut in a maiden special weight race for three-year-olds and up, going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Belmont on Sunday, October 24th VIDEO
Breaking from favorable post position 1 of 9 under jockey Luis Saez, CTW drifted in while hustled from the start. Saez was able to secure a good spot on the hedge less than three lengths off the lead through an opening quarter mile in :25.32. Racing down the backstretch, CTW travelled well as Saez remained mindful of the pedestrian pace. After 1/2 mile in :50.47, the pace picked up and Saez urged CTW around the far turn to keep position and look for a seam.
As they hit the top of stretch, CTW was set down for a drive after chasing the two frunt runners through 3/4 of a mile in 1:14.67. CTW responded well extending nicely through the lane while gaining on those rivals and keeping closers at bay. He finished willingly in the bridle to earn show as post time favorite Advise and Consent (4) sat the trip and scored a neck victory in a final time 1:43.61.
