Overcoming a less than ideal trip, Bahama Halo looked much the best drawing clear late wining an allowance race for two-year-old fillies, going 1 mile on the turf at Gulftsream Park West yesterday afternoon VIDEO

Breaking from post position 1 of 7, Bahama Halo and jockey Jonathan Gonzales were away in good order as they raced towards the first turn. Midnight Union (2) would dictate terms early dueling Backstage (3) through an opening quarter mile in :23.48, as Gonzales kept Bahama Halo tight on the rail some four lengths back.

Racing down the backstretch after a half mile in :47.50, Gonzales guided Bahama Halo off the rail and looked to make an early bid outside the two frontrunners. Only strides from taking the lead, Gonzales was forced to check in between Backstage and Devilish Romance (6) losing position and dropping back two lengths.

Gathering herself well through the far turn, Bahama Halo was poised to re-rally only to steady slightly in tight. Coming out of the turn, Gonzales angled Bahama Halo off the rail and set his sights on Backstage with less than 3/16 of a mile to the wire. Bahama Halo ran down that rival to score a one length victory over a closing Bella Vincenza in a final time of 1:38.39 CHART
