Daily Racing Form contributor/handicapper, Mike Watchmaker, may have said it best: "The cancellation of Saturday’s racing here at Gulfstream after the fifth race was one of the weirdest cancellations I have ever seen, and it was absolutely the right call."
The area officially received 8.25 inches of rain yesterday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Gulfstream's grounds could not handle such conditions, and some areas in the backstretch still remain under water this morning.
Daredevil spent the night at Gulfstream as road conditions were too poor and potentially hazardous. Thankfully, Todd's barn at Gulfstream is in an elevated section of the backstretch and remained above water throughout the day. Daredevil is in good order and is scheduled to van back to Palm Beach Downs today and breeze tomorrow, weather permitting.
The Swale S. (G2) has been rescheduled for this Saturday, March 7th. We'll re-enter Daredevil on Wednesday, March 4th at which time they will re-draw post positions, and we'll send out a follow-up email with race details. Javier Castellano will have the mount. Only those originally nominated to the Swale S. (G2) may enter.
