b.f. by CLOSING ARGUMENT – PROCURE by QUIET AMERICAN
The newest member of the Let’s Go Stable is the exciting juvenile filly, Midst. Runner-up to graded stakes winner Aegean on her debut, Midst returned to score an impressive 4½ victory in a maiden special weight at Keeneland. She is targeting the My Dear Stakes at Woodbine on June 28, and is expected to start as favorite for the $150,000 guaranteed event.
Midst is a member of the first crop of the highly thought of young stallion, Closing Argument. A precocious stakes winning two-year-old, Closing Argument trained on to be among the leaders of his crop at three, winning the Holy Bull Stakes (G3), and taking second in the Kentucky Derby (G1), with Afleet Alex in third. Closing Argument is a son of Champion Freshman Sire Successful Appeal, from the Valid Appeal branch of the In Reality line.
Midst is out of Procure, a young mare who is already dam of three winners from her first three runners. Procure’s sire is the grade one winning miler Quiet American, sire of 49 stakes winners, including the dual classic winning Champion Real Quiet, Champions Hidden Lake and Warrior Queen, and grade one winners Cara Rafaela and Seattle Smooth. Quiet American is now making a considerable name for himself as a broodmare sire his daughters producing such as Horse of the Year Saint Liam, Champion Bernardini, and grade one winners Whywhywhy, Mentality and Negro da Gaita. We should also note that the cross of Midst’s grandsire, Successful Appeal over a Quiet American mare produced the multiple graded stakes winning two-year-old Lunarpal.
Procure is half-sister to Basic Trainee, a multiple stakes winner of over $300,000, to grade one placed Demon Acquire, to stakes placed Obtain, to stakes placed Buy, and to Hord, the granddam of Your Tent or Mine, who won the Hollywood Prevue (G3) and took second in the Hollywood Futurity (G1) at two. The granddam, Acquire, is stakes winning daughter of the legendary Champion Spectacular Bid, and is a sister to stakes winner Jive. Midst’s third dam, stakes placed Disco Diane, is by classic winning Champion Tom Rolfe, herself a three-parts-sister to the dam of graded stakes winner Laser Lane.
Midst is both Florida-sired and Florida-bred, and she is eligible for the three-races in the filly division of the Florida Stallion Series (with total purses of $650,000), as well as other valuable restricted events including the OBS Championship Stakes and Sunshine Millions.
